Founder Message

Hi C9 Community + Friends!

May is one of my favorite times of year. The days are getting longer, the sun is shining, the energy is high, and there's a pull to get outside and get your hands dirty. For me, that means opening up the family cabin and getting the hobby farm back in order—yard clean-up, field rock scavenging (for my mom's garden borders—a little Mother's Day gift to Rose Eggert!), spring planting, and chopping more wood than any one person should probably admit to. We have enough wood stockpiled for the coming decade, so there's that! There's something about that kind of work that clears your head and grounds you.

And speaking of energy—there's plenty of it in the C9 Community right now.

We closed out April with our Breakfast Pop-In at Tradition Capital Bank. Beyond the great conversations and connections, we were thrilled to officially launch Project Ascent—the C9 Gives Foundation's new mentorship program. You'll find more details on Project Ascent below (plus an event recap) and at c9gives.org.

Our Team Summit on April 24th brought our C9 Team together to strengthen facilitation skills, share resources, and deepen the relationships that make the C9 Team so special. Thank you to our fantastic facilitators and staff. You truly are the best of the best!

Looking ahead, mark your calendars for the C9 Gives Jam Session: Safeguarding Business Innovation on Tuesday, June 16th. This event will focus on various topics relating to technology. This one is open to everyone, and based on past experience, it will fill up—so watch for the official invite next week and register early.

Further on the horizon, we're planning a Walk-and-Talk with open Pickleball this July (date to be confirmed) and our C9 Summer Social at CHS Field is officially booked for August 6th. Stay tuned for more details.

C9 Gives Foundation Project Ascent Mentorship Program

The C9 Gives Foundation Project Ascent Mentorship Program is a structured experience designed to connect established business leaders with ascending entrepreneurs and leaders who are actively building and growing their companies.

The program is built around one clear objective:

Create meaningful progress for entrepreneurs + leaders through focused guidance, accountability, and real-world perspective.

The program is run and supported by the C9 Gives Foundation, the philanthropic and community-building arm of Coalition9 dedicated to strengthening entrepreneurs and the broader business ecosystem.

We're currently looking for mentors—the commitment is a minimum of 6 months at 1–2 hours per month.

Our 2026 goal: At least 10 mentor/mentee relationships built by year's end. And we already have 8 mentors signed up!

April Event Recap - C9 SPARK + C9 Gives Breakfast Pop-In

On April 29th, we gathered at Tradition Capital Bank in Edina for a Coalition9 + C9 Gives Foundation Breakfast Pop-In where we launched Project Ascent ⛰️—the C9 Gives Foundation's mentorship program. ❤️

We cannot express enough gratitude to the over 70 people who joined us for relationship building and this important C9 Gives milestone. We’re so excited to see how this program will positively impact the small business community!

Here's what we know about mentorship: pairing people randomly doesn't work. There has to be a blend of art and science. Chemistry between people matters. Thankfully, we're damn good at matching people at Coalition9. 😉

It's also important to have a clear process—it makes the relationship more productive. The C9 Gives Foundation's Director of Community Engagement, Laura Cohen, developed the process that mentors and mentees will follow, and she knocked it out of the park. A huge thank you to Laura for her dedication, thoughtfulness, and expertise!

April C9 Team Summit Recap

At the end of April, our C9 Team gathered for our Spring Team Summit. We meet up twice a year to strengthen facilitation skills, share resources, and deepen the relationships that make the C9 Team so special.

We discussed what great facilitation looks like, exploring how to create the conditions where real vulnerability and candor can thrive.

With 254 active members across 27 groups—and more on the way—the C9 Community continues to grow. Our facilitators are a huge part of why Members show up for one another, get vulnerable, and keep building the lasting relationships that define the C9 Member experience.

We are so excited to be partnering with 4 Corners Exploration and Coalition9 facilitator Matt Norman on our first ever C9 Annual Signature Experience!

This unique 3-day desert hiking adventure through Capitol Reef National Park is a purposeful journey into one of America's most stunning and secluded landscapes. You'll traverse challenging terrain (hiking difficulty level: moderate), travel overland through surreal rock formations, and summit a peak for panoramic views, all in the company of your fellow C9ers.
